When I first met Jim 8 years ago, I had been told
I could never run again because I was too
big (5'11", then 185#) and too old (40). I had
nearly given up hope when I met Jim and he
changed my life.
I had done strength training off and on
throughout my life but Jim brought it to a
new-functional level. To make a long story short,
I can run now, and much more. I became an
Ironman due mostly to the strength
improvements I made with Jim's program. I do
exercises one rarely sees in a gym-but they are
par for the course at Jim's Sports Conditioning
and Rehabilitation center, known as SCAR.
I rarely use weight machines-at times a weighted
ball or bar is used but most of the work is with
my own bodyweight and is about being able to
balance and control my movements. The
training is as much about strength as it is about
neuromuscular coordination.
Every exercise Jim prescribes is with triathlon in
mind. As an Exercise physiologist, Physical
Therapist and athlete, he is exceptionally
qualified and sensitive to the unique demands of
triathletes.
By doing his program twice a week, you will
overcome many muscle and movement
imbalances that either have caused or will
eventually cause pain/injury in the future.
Enjoy your strength training. Having a program
designed by Jim is a real treat. Email me with
